Inmate Accused of Anthrax Threats
By News 4 Georgia
Published: 10/13/2005

Robert Wynn Young, 40, has been accused of mailing anthrax threats to a U.S. Senator and the FBI. A federal grand jury indicted Young on charges that he mailed a letter containing a white powdery substance addressed to U.S. Senator Saxby Chambliss (R - Ga.) at his Washington office in June. Two weeks before, a letter with similar white powder inside was sent to the Atlanta office of the FBI.

While tests have determined that the powder inside both envelopes was not a biological or chemical hazard, U.S. officials are maintaining that they have zero-tolerance for any type of false threats for anthrax or similar terrorism.

Officers added that Young remains in custody and has been at the jail since May 2004.
