A Mississippi corrections officer at a privately run Lauderdale County prison is facing charges after helping two convicted murderers escape from the facility. Officials reported that Tomeka Lashea Brown, who worked at the East Mississippi Correctional Facility, will be charged with two counts of accessory before the fact. Both of the escaped murderers were recaptured at an Alabama hotel. Brown is now being held in Tuscaloosa, Alabama while waiting for a trial. Officials said both of the inmates were arrested without incident. Authorities will not release any more details about the case, except to say that Mississippi, Alabama and federal authorities aided in the arrest of the inmates. |
