| Porn Found On Fulton County Jail Computers |

An Atlanta Georgia television station reports that porn sites have been found downloaded on employee computers at the Fulton County Jail. WSBTV reports that the sites were viewed in April -- the month after the shooting rampage that began at the Fulton County Courthouse and ended with four people dead. The station says employees at the jail downloaded pornography from the Internet while they were on the clock -- being paid to oversee inmates. The report says more than 400 pages of pornography were downloaded. Fulton County Commission Chairwoman Karen Handel is calling for Sheriff Myron Freeman to correct the problems. Freeman tells the television station he agrees that taxpayers should NOT be paying for deputies to watch porn. But Freeman has NOT taken any action against the employees involved. Commissioner Lynee Riley says the sheriff needs to "clean house" at the jail. The report is the latest to highlight problems at the jail. In June 2004, three officers involved in letting a rapper make a video at the jail were suspended for ten days without pay. The understaffed and overcrowded jail also saw a number of escapes and mistaken releases that year. Former Sheriff Jackie Barrett blamed many of the problems on overcrowding. |
