Youth Riot at Camp
By The Daily Bulletin
Published: 10/25/2005

Over the weekend, a riot occurred at Camp Glenn Rockey, a California juvenile facility that houses 120 offenders. Six of the juveniles were transported to hospitals for medical care, and the facility remains damaged, with officials reporting over 40 broken windows, fire damage, and furniture was ripped apart.

Authorities report that firefighters were called to the scene as well, although they will not release further information regarding possible fires at the facility. Officials also declined to guess how much it might cost to repair the facility. The juveniles transported to the hospital were mainly treated for bruises and scrapes, but two of the offenders suffered more serious injuries. All of the juveniles have been released from hospitals.

Camp Glenn Rockey remains closed while officials investigate the cause of the incident.
