Despite claims of innocence, Missouri Death Row inmate Marlin Gray, 38, was executed yesterday following a 1991 conviction of double murder. Gray was convicted of pushing two sisters from an abandoned bridge. Gray released a final statement before his execution saying that he had no involvement in the deaths of the sisters. He said he will pass away “with the peace of mind that comes from never having taken a human life.” Gray made repeated appeals, urging the U.S. Supreme Court and Missouri Governor Matt Blunt to reverse his death sentence based on insufficient evidence. Both the Supreme Court and Gov. Blunt refused to hear the appeals. |
