A Jonesboro man recently found himself in hot water with Arkansas authorities following a search of his vehicle at the prison.
Frederick Euell of Jonesboro, arrived at the Arkansas Department of Correction-Newport Complex last week for the purpose of visiting an inmate at one of the units. At the time of Euell's arrival, officers from the Arkansas Department of Correction were conducting checks on vehicles entering the property.
As officers from the Department of Correction checked the Euell's vehicle, approximately 2 1/2 pounds of Marijuana was found in the trunk.
The Jackson County Sheriff's Department was contacted and Lt. James Brock and Investigator Stacey Sullivan responded to the call. Euell was arrested and transported to the Jackson County Sheriff's Department Detention Center on charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Marijuana with Intent to Deliver and Furnishing Prohibited Articles. The approximate value of the Marijuana seized was $2,500 and his 1990 Nissan Maxima was also seized. Euell appeared in Newport District Court last week for arraignment on the charges and his bond was set at $25,000 and he was ordered to appear in Jackson County Circuit Court.
