An Iowa inmate is on hunger strike, according to officials. The hunger strike began on October 23rd, when John Wenman stopped eating for unknown reasons. Wenman is being held at Iowa's Johnson County Jail while awaiting his trial for first-degree kidnapping. Wenman's lawyer says that although he has been speaking with the inmate, he will not comment on Wenman's condition or statements. Wenman is accused of holding a woman against her will and sexually assaulting her. His trial is set for January. |
