An Indianapolis jailer has been arrested on trafficking of contraband following the death of a Tipton County jail inmate. Although the county sheriff stated that it was not clear what involvement the jailer might have in the death, investigation is underway.

According to a recent autopsy, the cause of inmate Joshua Lee Maine's death could not be determined.  Toxicology reports will not be available for another three to four weeks. Maine died on Wednesday night. Officials found him unconscious in his cell and attempted to revive him, but failed. Maine was pronounced dead after being rushed to the hospital. Maine was being held in the prison on charges of public intoxication and trespassing.

The jailer, Thomas D. Owens, is being held on $100,000 bond after Indiana State Police found evidence that a jailer had been trafficking with inmates. Owens has been working at the facility since February, and has no previous disciplinary incidents.
