A Nassau County jail inmate was found dead in his cell yesterday morning. The inmate, David Majors, was found in his cell after hanging himself with a bed sheet. According to officers, Majors was rushed to Nassau University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead a short time later. Majors had attempted suicide on another occasion 16 years ago. Following the attempt, Majors was placed in psychiatric evaluation for three weeks, during which he was tested and cleared to join the prison's general population. Majors was serving a sentence for third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, stalking and criminal trespassing following repeated incidents where he stalked an Alaska woman. |
