Twenty six inmates have escaped from Chaibasa Remand Home in Jharkhand's West Singhbhum district of India, police said last week. The inmates escaped through the ventilator of the Home late last night, Superintendent of Police N K Singh said. He said police teams have been constituted to arrest the escapees.
The SP said they were also investigating why none of the officials of the Remand Home informed the police about the escape. The Remand Home, situated near Zilla School under Muffasil police station, has now 30 inmates, he said, adding the majority of the inmates had committed petty crime like theft.
