Two inmates at a Pennsylvania state prison have been on a hunger strike since November 7th. A judge recently ordered that both inmates undergo medical examination in order to ensure their health and safety. The inmates, Antonio Alexander and Robert Williams, say they are refusing to eat because they are upset with conditions in their prison block. Specifically, Alexander and Williams cite that their prison block suffers from poor treatment and conditions. Alexander has refused 15 consecutive meals, while Williams has refused 22 meals. Both inmates refused to be weighed, or undergo any type of medical tests. Now that a judge has issued a ruling on the case, the prison can temporarily issue medical treatment to the inmates. |
