Killer Sues DOC
By Associated Press
Published: 11/14/2005

Two decades ago, Craig Price killed four people in Warwick, Rhode Island. Price, who was a teenager at the time of the murders, is now suing the Rhode Island Department of Corrections for his undo transfer to a Florida prison.

Price, who is now 32, was transferred to Florida in 2004, after he became eligible to come off of restricted-security status. However, officials refused to change his status as a prisoner, or give him more freedom inside the prison because of his notoriety. Although Price initially agreed to an out-of-state transfer, he did not know where he would be sent.

The lawsuit accuses the state Corrections Director, A.T. Wall and two assistants of violating Price's civil rights by retaliating against him. Price claims that his transfer is a response to another lawsuit he filed against the department in 2003 demanding more access to psychological treatment. Price has been acting as his own lawyer, and has been in jail since 1989.
