An Indiana inmate committed suicide on Monday. Joseph L. White, 41, was being held at the Madison County jail on numerous felony charges. White was being housed in the medical cell block of the facility, and had just been cleared to return to the general population. White was reportedly depressed, and being observed by medical staff. Officers checked on White at 11 p.m. during a bed check, and he was discovered at 12:20 a.m. Officials say that White's mother said that they were having family problems. White was being held for charges of residential entry, theft, and a misdemeanor charge of battery following an incident where he broke into a man's home, punched him in the face and drove off on a bicycle. |
