| New state corrections director named |

Governor Freudenthal has appointed Wyoming native Robert Lampert as director of the state Department of Corrections. Lampert is a Marine Corps veteran with more than 29 years of experience in corrections. He comes to Wyoming from the Oregon Department of Corrections, where he is assistant superintendent at Oregon's only maximum-security institution. Lampert says the lack of prison space in Wyoming will be resolved through effective planning and leadership. He will begin his Wyoming job on November 10. Lampert replaces Robert Ortega who is leaving because of personal and health reasons. Lampert was born in Newcastle. |
