Arkansas executed 45-year-old death row inmate Eric Nance by lethal injection for the 1993 throat-slashing death of an 18-year-old woman. The execution was delayed by 90 minutes while the U.S. Supreme Court ruled on two motions, the first claiming Nance is mentally retarded, and the second claiming DNA evidence would exonerate him. The court rejected both, and Nance was injected at 9:30 p.m. Monday evening at the Cummins Prison in Varner. Nance was the only inmate executed in Arkansas in the last two years. |
