Deputies at California's San Diego County Jail used chemical spray and rubber bullets to break up a fight between 10 to 15 inmates yesterday, sheriff's officials said. It took deputies, including ones from a special tactical team, nearly two hours to quell the brawl and get all the inmates locked into their cells, jail Lt. Georgette McCalla said. Bookings into the jail were suspended for about an hour, forcing San Diego police and other agencies to either delay bringing in new inmates or take them to another county detention facility. McCalla said the reason for the fight was under investigation. No serious injuries were reported. |
