South Carolina officials say an inmate died at Perry Correctional Institution, a maximum security prison, Thursday morning - less than two months before his projected release date. The Corrections Department says 26-year-old Charles Douglas Martin was found dead in a common area of the facility at about 6:30am. Martin had a projected release date in late January after serving more than three years of a five-year sentence for assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature and trespassing. |
