A Rochester teenager is in guarded condition after he was assaulted Monday night at the Monroe County Jail in New York. His mother wants some answers. Jaqueline Santiago was called to the Golisano Children's Hospital after jail officials told her her 16-year-old son Donte had been severely beaten by inmates. The Monroe County Sheriff's Department said Donte was housed in a special wing for minors. Jaqueline said jail officials told her if Donte recovers and goes back to jail, they still wouldn't be able to guarantee his safety. The sheriff's department says it is investigating what happened. Officials said they have suspects but have not made any arrests yet. Santiago was in jail awaiting trial on burglary charges. |
