Inmate Finally Captured

Authorities say a convicted murderer who was mistakenly freed from the Milwaukee County jail in Wisconsin in June has been captured at a San Antonio motel. Officials say 34-year-old Cesar Lira was arrested without incident.

In May he was extradited from Oklahoma to Wisconsin to face a felony escape charge. He'd been serving a 20-year sentence in Oklahoma for second-degree murder.

Milwaukee officials let Lira go after his family posted a 15-thousand dollar bond because authorities say they weren't given extradition papers instructing them to keep him in custody. According to Wisconsin authorities, Lira had been charged with felony escape in 2004 after he violated parole and fled to Oklahoma, where he led officers on a chase that killed his girlfriend. He was later convicted of second-degree murder in Oklahoma and received a 20-year prison term.
