Testifying in his own defense Wednesday, inmate Tracallen Streeter denied stabbing a fellow Sedgwick County Jail inmate but added, "I'm willing to take the blame for it."
During a rambling hour of testimony, Streeter talked of taunting Jason Olson after Olson was stabbed in the chest in July. Streeter maintained on the stand that he knew who stabbed Olson but refused to tell officials - and then went on to say that Olson stabbed himself.
However, trauma surgeons testified that Olson was admitted to a medical center with a 15-inch metal shank buried in his chest, piercing his lung, diaphragm and liver just missing the major veins and organs which could have killed him.
Investigators also determined that the shank was fashioned out of a mop handle, and the remaining part of the handle was found in Streeter's cell.
Furthermore, three inmates who were in the pod during the attack on Olson testified that they saw Streeter stab Olson in a common area. They recounted details that matched Olson's testimony.
Streeter, in jail accused of shooting a police officer, said he was disgusted because Olson faced charges of child molestation.
