Chips Spark Fight Between Inmates
By Associated Press

A disagreement over potato chips led a female jail inmate to attack another inmate, Porter County officials said. Police said Mary Louise Ochoa, 29, of Gary, attacked Kelly Katona in Katona's cell last week. Ochoa faces a possible charge of aggravated battery, police said.
Katona, 38, of South Haven, cut her head when it hit a bunk bed during the struggle, police said. The injury required stitches, police said.
Investigators said the fight started after Katona agreed to trade her bag of popcorn for Ochoa's hot dog and chips.
However, Ochoa only gave Katona the hot dog, not the chips, according to the police report.
Ochoa attacked Katona after she complained, police said.
Ochoa has been in jail since April on a charge of auto theft, according to police records.
Katona was arrested in May on charges of assaulting a police officer and paramedic, resisting arrest and public intoxication.
