A New York inmate at Eastern Correctional Facility sent two correction officers to the hospital Saturday after he threw chairs through a visiting area waiting room, officials say. Officials say when officers attempted to intervene, Tafari became violent, banging chairs against a visiting room window. Officers S. Furman and A. Colletti were injured when the glass broke; both were treated at a local hospital and released. Kevin Walker, mid-Hudson vice president of the correctional officers association, said Tafari, who is serving time for robbery, will face one count of third-degree criminal mischief, a felony, and two counts of second degree assault, also a felony. |
