Riot In New Tbilisi Prison

The habitants of a new prison in Kutaissi started riot last week. One hundred prisoners were taken to the new prison for 1500 habitants as it opened a day before. They blocked the cell doors and even burned several cells as they demanded better conditions. A special squad was summoned outside the prison.
Givi Mikanadze, deputy Justice Minister arrived in Kutaissi. According to him, a new prison was constructed within the European standards and the prisoners may enjoy much better conditions there in compare with other prisons. The prisoners were trying to demonstrate force and keep a new prison under their control, what they were used to, but they would not prevail, Givi Mikanadze claimed.
