An internal investigation behind the doors of the Franklin County Jail has been launched. Authorities say it is about the way an inmate was handled. The Alabama Bureau of Investigation was called in after a formal complaint was filed against a corrections officer at the jail. According to Sheriff Larry Plott, his staff was informed of the complaint just a few nights ago. The complaint involved a male officer and a female inmate. Plott says an internal investigation was launched immediately. As protocol, A.B.I. was called. There aren't many details available at this time, being in the middle of the investigation. Plott says, "We're hoping we have this concluded within the next three to four days at most. If we find some merit to it, it will be presented to a grand jury." The officer has been placed on administrative leave. |
