| Prisoner Dies After Fight |

An inmate at the Bi-State Justice Center in Texarkana has died after a fight with another prisoner, authorities reported last week. Damien Wheeler, 23, suffered what turned out to be fatal injuries earlier in the week during an altercation in a cell with 19-year-old Nathaniel Cleveland. Wheeler, who was hit in the head, was taken to a nurse's station at the jail and then put into a different cell. Officers say he appeared OK after the fight and was not taken to the hospital. He died early this morning, several hours after the fight. "We just don't know what the fight was started over," Officer Chris Rankin said. No charges had been been filed against Cleveland today. Authorities were trying to determine who stated the fight. |
