An inmate from a state minimum security prison who escaped from a Colorado work crew Tuesday was caught by police. Jimmy W. Tanksley, 55, is accused of assaulting an officer and stealing the crew's van. Adams County authorities were working with the department's inspector general's office and other authorities to find Tanksley, who was serving 12 years for an assault conviction from Denver, according to department records. Tanksley was captured at approximately 8:20 pm by the combined forces of the Colorado Department of Corrections. Tanksley was apprehended without incident at a local Commerce City bar. Adams County sheriff's Sgt. Louis Dixon said the officer attacked suffered minor injuries. The van and a department cell phone were found in a residential area near the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge, Dixon said. |
