Thirty-five thousand federal and provincial prison inmates are set to cast ballots in Canada's federal election. Under Elections Canada rules, inmates will vote inside prisons on January 13th. Inmates may vote in the area where they lived before going to prison, in the area where a relative lives or where they were convicted. The Supreme Court of Canada ruled in 2002 that voting could teach inmates democratic values and social responsibility. |
