| Female prison officer charged with having sex with inmate |

A female prison officer from Landrum is charged with having sex with an inmate, according to the South Carolina Corrections Department. Julie Ann Domer, 29, was charged last Monday with having sex with an inmate she identified as Johnny Jennings in a written statement signed Oct. 29. Domer, who remains in the Spartanburg County jail under a $5,000 secured bond, declined to comment. In her written statement, Domer said she and Jennings began "seeing each other" in August and that they had sex once in a bathroom in September. Jennings, 38, of Greenville is being held at the Northside Correctional Center serving a 10-year sentence for second-degree nonviolent burglary, according to Corrections records. His parole date is set for Jan. 22, 2004. His release date is August 2006. Officials say Jennings will not be reprimanded in the case. Domer is the second female correctional officer this year charged with having sex with an inmate in a state prison, according to Corrections Department officials. Former McCormick correctional officer Artina Freeman, 38, was charged July 22 with having sex with a male inmate. She pleaded guilty in September to misconduct while in office and received three years' probation. |
