By Associated Press
Published: 01/09/2006

State officials say they will investigate the death of a Hawaii woman at a Kentucky prison. Relatives of the inmate, Sarah Ah Mau, told KHON-TV that her pleas for medical attention were ignored by officials at the Otter Creek facility. Prison officials are attributing Mau's death to a heart attack.
Frank Lopez, Hawaii's interim director of public safety, says state officials could be in Kentucky by this week to investigate the woman's death.
Mau had been at the prison for the past 13 years. She was convicted of murdering her toddler and would have been up for parole next summer.
