A Florida inmate who escaped from the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center complex last week was recaptured at his mother's home. Miami-Dade police said. Rodney Buckles, 25, was cornered inside a home in Miami Gardens, ending his 72 hours of freedom, police said. A tip led police to the house. When they arrived, Buckles bolted. Buckles was unarmed and was placed in a police cruiser and driven away to police headquarters for questioning. He is unlikely to be returned to TGK, Duncan said. He was the second inmate to escape from TGK in the last two months. The first was the alleged Shenandoah rapist, Reynaldo E. Rapalo, who was also recaptured. Buckles was arrested last month for domestic battery charge. Miami-Dade cops say he made his way to the roof of a cell block of the Training and Treatment Center, commonly known as the Stockade. Then, he made it over a razor-wired fence morning and fled west. Three Miami-Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation staffers -- two officers and a supervisor -- were relieved of duty pending the investigation. |
