Published: 01/23/2006

A Hawaii medical team plans to fly to Kentucky next week to investigate the death of a Hawaii inmate who died at a private prison there. Sarah Ah Mau was taken to the Appalachian Regional Healthcare Hospital on December 30 and transferred that night to a medical center where she died the next morning.
She was being housed at a prison in Wheelwright, Kentucky run by Corrections Corporation of America. Michael Gaede is a spokesman for the Hawaii Department of Public Safety. He says Hawaii's investigators would go to Kentucky a week from tomorrow. He says an autopsy found she died of natural causes.
