California authorities in Tuolumne County are investigating the death of an inmate who was found dead in his jail cell last weekend. Officials at the Tuolumne County Jail in Sonora say the 43-year-old inmate was discovered dead in his cell at about 5:00 Friday evening when a member of the jail staff went to pick up his food tray after dinner. Authorities say the inmate was alone in his cell when his body was discovered. The name of the inmate has not been released, pending notification of his family. The inmate was being held on weapons charges after being arrested on an outstanding warrant in November. |
