An anonymous tip to Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers led to the arrest of a federal prison escapee from the Coleman Federal Corrections Complex in Central Florida. Agents from the US Marshal's office found John Howard hiding in a van in Dunbar. Howard was on furlough, or a leave of absence, from Coleman and was supposed to serve the final part of his sentence at the Salvation Army halfway house in Fort Myers, but failed to show up to complete the sentence. He was serving time on narcotics charges. Howard is being held at the Lee County Jail without bond. |
