Chicago authorities in Lake County have charged a jail inmate with soliciting an undercover agent to murder a Waukegan police officer and a co-defendant in a drug case. The inmate, 26-year-old Abdul Mahadi Love of Carbondale, is being held on ten million dollars bond. He is charged with solicitation of murder for hire, a Class X felony with a sentencing range of 20 to 40 years in prison upon conviction. Love has been in jail since his October arrest in Waukegan after police said a traffic stop revealed that he and another passenger were in possession of nearly three kilograms of cocaine. If Love is convicted of both the solicitation and drug charges, state law requires that the sentences be consecutive. |
