Dead Inmate's Family Sues Jail
By The Northwest Indiana Times
Published: 02/13/2006

The Illinois family of a Chicago man who apparently committed suicide in his cell at the Lake County Jail is suing the sheriff's department.
James Hunt, 29, was booked into the jail July 30 on a theft charge. A county corrections officer found him hanged Aug. 3. He'd apparently tied a bed sheet to a cell window. The lawsuit alleges the jail staff neglected Hunt, who was a heroin addict undergoing withdrawal.
The family filed suit in U.S. District Court in Hammond.
