Federal Inmate in N.C. Jail Dies

A North Carolina federal prisoner in the Guilford County jail died this morning from what appears to be natural causes, according to Sheriff BJ Barnes. The inmate, who had been at the jail for two weeks, fell ill about 11 a.m. Wednesday and asked for medical treatment. He lost consciousness and collapsed at the medical station on the floor where he was housed, according to Barnes.
Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.Barnes said it was the first inmate death in a Guilford County jail since the early 1990s.
No other information including the inmate's name was immediately available.
