California officials say that a female inmate at West Valley Detention Center who died after complaining of pain was seven-months pregnant.
A San Bernardino County Sheriff's spokeswoman says the 22-year-old woman was admitted to the emergency room of Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Fontana last week. She was pronounced dead about half an hour after she arrived.
A coroner's official says the fetus did not survive. An autopsy has been performed in Riverside County, but the cause of death is still being investigated.
