Two teenagers accused of killing their counselor at a juvenile detention center have been arraigned on homicide and other charges. Authorities say 17-year-old Anthony Machicote and 16-year-old Jeremy Melvin are being held in the Mercer County Jail without bond, pending a hearing set for November 19. The killing happened at George Junior Republic, a private center for troubled teens near Grove City. The two turned themselves in to a security officer at a high school in Pittsburgh. The counselor, 43-year-old Wayne Lamont Urey Junior, died as a result of strangulation. Court papers allege that Machicote and Melvin used bedsheets and a belt to tie up and kill Urey. The two are accused of stealing the counselor's pickup truck as they escaped. |
