Corrections Officers Fired
By Capital News 9
Published: 03/06/2006

Two New York corrections officers at the Schenectady County Jail are out of work because of their actions during last week's prison break.
The sheriff's department said Jayme Paul and Gerold Treacy's mistakes directly led to the escape of inmate Edwin Ortiz.
Sheriff Harry Buffardi said the pair failed to make a correct head count; leading jail officials to believe Ortiz was still in his cell.
He said, "I think it's only logical that I can hold a degree of accountability for our officers to count to six, particularly for the highest rated escapist we have in the jail. This guy was well known to us as an escape risk. He was highlighted in red everywhere we looked, and he wasn't counted as he was coming back in."
Ortiz escaped from the jail on Feb 21 and was caught the next day.

About one-third of our lives are spent at work. With that time invested, it’s reasonable to assume that an employer would want to keep you safe. If you have been Waco construction accident attorney in Waco you can get the legal advice that you need to get on with your life. If your employer does not have workers' compensation insurance and your employer is at fault for your accident, then you can sue your employer directly with the help of a workplace injury attorney.
