Las Vegas Man gets Prison for Aiding Escape

Keith Michael Barney of Las Vegas has been sentenced to up to 2 1/2 years in prison for helping a Northern Nevada Correctional Center escapee who fled by hiding in a furniture delivery truck. The attorney general's office said last week that Barney, 33, was sentenced in Clark County District Court for aiding inmate Kenneth "Jody" Thompson by driving to northern Nevada to pick him up and then driving him back to Las Vegas and giving him food, clothing and a place to stay.
Thompson escaped last August. The delivery truck was headed to Fallon, 60 miles east of the medium-security prison in Carson City, when he pried open the doors and jumped out.
Thompson was recaptured Nov. 29 in Las Vegas, after holding an elderly couple hostage for three hours and then giving himself up.
"Without Barney's assistance, Thompson's escape and subsequent return to Las Vegas would have been more difficult," said Chief Deputy Attorney General Conrad Hafen. "In light of Barney's aid, he must share responsibility for Thompson's criminal conduct."
Thompson had been serving 10 to 50 years for robbery, use of a deadly weapon and grand larceny in Clark and Nye counties. After his escape, he's suspected of committing several crimes in southern Nevada, and was profiled on the television show "America's Most Wanted."
Barney was charged with being an accessory after the commission of a felony. Two other cases are pending against Las Vegas residents Kaisa Haynes and Daniel McLeroy for allegedly aiding Thompson.

About one-third of our lives are spent at work. With that time invested, it’s reasonable to assume that an employer would want to keep you safe. If you have been Waco construction accident attorney in Waco you can get the legal advice that you need to get on with your life. If your employer does not have workers' compensation insurance and your employer is at fault for your accident, then you can sue your employer directly with the help of a workplace injury attorney.
