A state inmate serving a 55-year sentence for kidnapping and two counts of sexual assault remained on the run Saturday after escaping from a hospital in Lucedale, officials said. David G. Marshall, 35, is described as a white male, 6 feet 1 and weighing 190 pounds, with blue eyes and sandy brown hair, said Ken Jones, a spokesman for the Mississippi Department of Corrections. The convict may have driven away from George County Hospital Friday morning in a stolen 1995 silver Mercury Cougar, Jones said. Marshall was incarcerated at South Mississippi Correction Institution before being taken to the hospital Monday for specialized care, Jones said. A warrant was issued for Marshall, who climbed out of his hospital room shortly before 2:30 a.m. and fled under the cover of darkness, Jones said. Corrections officials say due to the nature of Marshall's criminal past, he should be considered dangerous. Anyone with information should call law enforcement immediately by dialing 911, Jones said. |
