Seven Reportedly Beat Wis. Prison Officer
By Wisconsin State Journal

Seven prisoners from Wisconsin apparently beat and kicked an officer during a disturbance April 28 at a private prison in Oklahoma, said Bill Clausius, spokesman for the Wisconsin Department of Corrections.
The officer, who received 12 stitches to the head, was released from a hospital Sunday-- six days after the incident, Clausius said.
Another 15 prisoners apparently caused $12,000 damage to a kitchen during the disturbance, which started in a recreation yard and moved into a dining area around 6 p.m., Clausius said. The disturbance at the North Fork Correctional Institution in Sayre, Okla., lasted about three hours, and no inmates were injured, officials reported.
Wisconsin Corrections officials still were in Oklahoma interviewing inmates Monday, trying to sort out what happened. Authorities are still uncertain as to what triggered the event, Clausius said.
'You're dealing with inmates here, and do they always tell the truth?' Clausius asked.
Corrections Corp. of America houses 1,199 Wisconsin prisoners at North Fork under contract with the state of Wisconsin.
