| Murder Suspect Escapes From Louisiana Jail |

A murder suspect escaped Wednesday from a Jefferson Parish, La., jail. Deputies said Carl Christian, 19, was booked Tuesday night on one count of second-degree murder in connection with the Monday murder of another teenager on Mount Shasta Drive in Marrero. Christian was meeting at the jail with his attorneys Wednesday at about 1:20 p.m. and had not yet changed into a prison uniform. Deputies said he apparently walked out of the building, somehow getting past two secure doors. A search was under way in the neighborhoods surrounding the jail, on Mount Shasta Drive, and in the Woodmere subdivision, where Christian's father lives. Christian is described as a black man, 5 feet 5 inches tall and 130 pounds. He last was seen wearing three-quarter-length pants, a black and blue shirt and black shoes. |
