Jail officer charged with fondling

A correctional officer from the Livingston County, Ill. jail appeared last week in circuit court today to face a charge of custodial sexual misconduct.
David Klein, 31, of Flanagan, was charged Nov. 14 with the Class 3 felony.
Klein, a sergeant at the jail, has been suspended pending the outcome of the court case.
The charge accuses Klein of inappropriately touching a female inmate while he was on duty around Oct. 20 at the jail.
State law makes any sexual contact between correctional officers and inmates illegal, even if the act was consensual.
Lee Ann S. Hill from Bloomington was appointed as special prosecutor in the case because Livingston County State's Attorney Tom Brown works with the sheriff's department.
Klein's arrest came after an investigation by state police.
Klein posted $500 cash and was released from custody.
