| Florida Prison Inmate Killed |

One inmate was killed at the Brevard Correctional Institution Wednesday. The suspect, Vidal Santiago, is currently serving 30 years on a second-degree murder charge, WESH reported. The victim was identified as Dalvan Barnes from Broward County, who was serving a four-year term for armed robbery. The Brevard Correctional Institution is a state facility in Sharpes. A state corrections official said the two inmates got into a fight outside a dormitory at the prison. Barnes was stabbed with an unknown weapon. The official did not know if the weapon was recovered or how the inmate acquired it. The victim was airlifted to a Melbourne hospital but died before arrival. Corrections officers armed with rifles have secured the area where the stabbing occurred. |
