Texas law officers unsealed a federal indictment Thursday charging 19 members of one the state's largest and most notorious prison gangs with offenses ranging from murder to drug trafficking. The indictments were to be unsealed at the U.S. Courthouse yesterday. The suspects are reportedly members of the Texas Syndicate gang, a Latino organization with a long history of violence. Officials said that a federal grand jury issued the indictments Wednesday night and that officers have been working overnight and this morning to round up the suspects. The suspects' names will be released after their arrests, officials said. The investigation also involved the Austin Police Department, the Travis County District Attorney's Office and the FBI. |
