A man serving a two-year jail term has been arrested and charged with running a prostitution operation from behind bars. Donald Delaney, 39, was using pay telephones at the South Bay House of Correction in Boston, Mass. to direct the prostitution activities of a Chelsea, Mass., woman, Suffolk County Sheriff's Department officials said. Jail officials became suspicious when Delaney's canteen account started receiving large sums of money anonymously. In all, the account received nearly $2,000. A canteen account, capped at $500, allows inmates to buy snacks, stamps, writing materials and toiletries. Deputies tracked the activities of Delaney's alleged accomplice for three weeks before making an arrest. He was arrested without incident on Nov. 12 in the jail's dining hall. He is scheduled to appear in Roxbury District Court on Dec. 12. |
