A convicted rapist who escaped from prison more than 20 years ago was caught last Tuesday posing as a registered nurse. Willis Taylor escaped from a Michigan prison in 1982, four years into his 10-year sentence for aggravated rape. FBI agents said Taylor stole the identity of a man named Kevin Michael Morrisroe, posed as a registered nurse and was hired by Starmed Staffing Group in Overland Park, Kan. In recent years, Taylor took care of patients in several area hospitals. Court records show Taylor obtained a nursing license in Kansas and Missouri in 1998. Both states renewed his license in 2002. FBI agents arrested Taylor as he was going to work at a Topeka medical center. He will most likely end up back in Michigan, finishing his 1978 rape sentence, but FBI agents said the case is far from over. As far as the FBI knows, Taylor did not harm anyone in the 21 years he posed as a registered nurse. A federal judge ordered Taylor to remain in jail without bond. |
