A woman who worked inside the canteen of St. Lucie County Jail is accused of smuggling drugs and drug paraphernalia to prisoners by hiding the contraband inside snack bags and candy wrappers, authorities said. Patricia Pond, 42, acted as a conduit for deliveries of drugs, rolling papers and tobacco from Murray to Reeves, according to St. Lucie sheriff's documents. Pond was charged last month with possession of cocaine in a correctional facility, possession of drug paraphernalia and introduction of contraband into a correctional facility. She is free on $12,500 bond. A 29-year-old inmate, Zegery Reeves, is accused of being the mastermind behind the scheme. Reeves and his girlfriend, Shontella Murray, 29, of Fort Pierce were each charged with eight counts of conspiracy to introduce contraband into a correctional facility, one count of possession of contraband and one count of the sale of marijuana, officials said. Reeves, who would take the drugs Pond delivered and sell them to other inmates, was in jail on drug and assault charges. Murray has been since jailed in lieu of $206,500 bail. 'We don't underestimate the ability of an inmate to try to accomplish something like this,' sheriff's spokesman Garry Wilson said. 'They have a lot of time to think about how to get around the system.' Wilson said the investigation is continuing. Pond was not a county employee, but one the jail contracted through an outside agency, officials said. |

There is a lot of information on this website about inmates and prison guards. I didn’t realize what was going on in our prison system until I discovered this website. Similarly, I didn’t understand litigation finance until I read more from Hamilton Lindley who is a litigation finance expert based in Texas.
