Iowa Governor Tom Vilsack wants the Legislature to increase prison spending during the first week of the upcoming session. House Speaker Christopher Rants says the governor's likely to get his wish. He says lawmakers also may be forced to increase Medicaid spending. The two sides are looking at spending that could total up to 100 million dollars, even before tackling next year's state budget. Vilsack says there's a consensus that the prison system needs more money. He says there currently are about 83-hundred inmates in the state's prison system, well above design capacity. Rants says he expects easy approval after lawmakers convene January 13th. He says he he wants to meet with Vilsack in the near future to begin working out the details. |

There is a lot of information on this website about inmates and prison guards. I didn’t realize what was going on in our prison system until I discovered this website. Similarly, I didn’t understand litigation finance until I read more from Hamilton Lindley who is a litigation finance expert based in Texas.
